Q: It’s my first class. What should I know before taking a class?
A: Come 15-minutes early to class so that you can fill out a waiver. You can take all the classes for FREE one time, so that you can decide which class best fits your needs.
Q: I’m new to exercise, which class should I take?
A: It’s depends on your goal. If you want to lose weight, it is necessary to burn off the calories by doing some form of cardio exercise. The Aerobic Dance class will help you do that. If you want to tone up your arms, legs and abs, the Total Body Toning or Pilates classes are designed to help you achieve that goal.
Q: I’m over 50, will I be able to keep up in your classes?
A: My classes are designed for students 50 and over. Since students vary in age from 50-88 years of age, everyone works at their own level. I will show modifications for exercises based on my student’s limitations. My main goal is that you have fun, but that you do not hurt yourself!
Q: How often should I attend class?
A: If you are new to exercise, I would start with one or two classes a week to allow your muscles time to adjust. For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines:
• Aerobic activity. Get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity. You also can do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of a week.
• Strength training. Do strength training exercises at least twice a week.
Q: Do I need any dance background for the Aerobic Dance class?
A: No, the classes are designed for beginners to advanced students.
Q: How does the 10-class package work?
A: Since many of my students are seasonal, I have designed a payment plan that allows for flexibility around your schedule.
If you buy a 10-class package for $65 Jupiter resident/$81 non-Jupiter resident, you can use attend either the Aerobic Dance or Total Body Toning class. It is interchangeable with those two classes.
If you buy 10-class for $100 Jupiter resident/$125 non-Jupiter resident, you can attend the Pilates classes.
The package expires one year after the last class that you have attended.
Q: Do I need special clothing?
A: No, wear comfortable clothing that allows you to bend and stretch. Most students wear yoga pants.
Q: Do I need special shoes?
A: In the Total Body Toning and Aerobic Dance classes, wear a tennis shoe or an aerobic shoe that provides support.
In Pilates, you can go barefoot or wear toe socks.
Q: Do I need to bring any equipment?
A: The Recreation Dept. provides all equipment. You only need to bring your own personal exercise mat.
Q: I still have more questions. Where can I find more information?
A: Please call me at 561.236.4298 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
